Perfumed burning papers. Maybe better than incense. I cannot get over this scent. This teeny tiny booklet with strips of papers you tear off and light on fire has filled my entire apartment with the woody, sweet fragrance and I’m so happy. Carcinogenic? Prob. But I also like to light things on fire so I’m fine with that trade off.

I'm obsessed with these little paper incense that you fold and leave burning in a dish. It's like a super quick hit of incense, and then it's gone in a couple of minutes. Perfect for bathroom and cooking smells, and also gives you an excuse to set tiny fires.

Something about burning paper incense that makes you feel sooooo rich. Maybe because it’s like you’re literally burning money. Maybe it’s because these are from a company that dates back 800 years. Either way this is a great use of $28.

i visited SF once, when I was still extremely naïve and hasn’t traveled much. Someone in orange monk clothes handed this to me when I was walking around. And then he extended a bucket which was meant for donations(?) I’m still unsure. I dug into my pocket, and was embarrassed to only have a nickel. He sighed and gave me some sort of blessing after. i Think I’ve only gotten a nickel’s worth of lifetime peace. I wish I had more in my pocket. whenever I look at it, I feel a strange mix of excitement, which I felt traveling in a big city solo, cringe at my naivety, and guilt that I didn’t offer him more. so I keep it around, because it’s a strange jumble of emotions and I like to dissect the meaning.
