watched this a week ago with my friends and i have thought of it truly every day since. major, major content warnings, but if it ends up being something you’re in the right zone for, it’s unbelievable. never seen something handle so much pain with so much tact. looking forward to seeing a lot more Gregg Araki ❤️

love love love gregg araki he's my favorite director probably ever!!! this made me cry so much and it was so beautifully directed/filmed..definitely check out more of his stuff i highly recommend!

@BIGSTRONGGUY i’m biased to say nowhere bc it’s my all-time favorite movie, but the doom generation could be a good one too. mysterious skin is depressing so if ur looking for something more light hearted deffff check out smiley face. it’s super zany and a complete polar opposite to mysterious skin. so…basically any of them😅😅but i mean mysterious skin just feels so different from his other stuff tone-wise so it’s hard to choose what might be an appropriate follow-up. i admittedly haven’t seen everything he’s made but what i have seen is super good imo

Mysterious Skin dir. gregg araki

I could not think of a more poignant and more gut wrenching film. Big content warning for assault and other things if that is too much. The themes in it are handled very sensitive but it’ll still leave you devastated. Also my favorite Joseph Gordon-Levitt performance by far

THE SUBSTANCE (2024)

not sure it blew my mind but i definitely can’t get it out of my head. so many disgustingly horrifying parts but i couldn’t look away. not for the faint of heart but an awesome film for sure
