the writing is horrendous. but if you don’t think about it that hard, the movies are super entertaining. ep 3 is actually a good movie and you can’t change my mind

it is objectively so bad, yet there is a part of me that cannot part from it, I have to rewatch it at least once a year, it is truly iconic.
and hey, I can definitely tell you all the reasons why it is bad, both the movies and the books, but I think one can enjoy a piece of bad media while realizing how wacky it is.

i hate to say it, but you have to watch all three to really understand how bonkers these movies truly are. from a recycled cast to a black and white movie with just the poop colored, every detail about this trilogy is absurd. i can’t in good faith really recommend watching any of these; every time i watched one of these movies with a partner we broke up shortly after. trigger warning for literally everything too. the writers really wanted to strike every nerve they could.
and im gonna be real. i could write essays digging into deeper meaning of these movies if i wanted to, but when it comes down to it, these movies are just fuckin gross and that’s what i love about them. they really “go there” every time and it makes for an uncomfortable and grimy viewing experience. whether that’s your thing or not really will make or break it.
2nd one is my fave, all more fun to watch with friends 🤍

it was a tough battle between this and ready player one but at the end of the day this movie is the single worst theater experience i’ve ever had. so, so, *so* stupid, but *so* convinced of its own cleverness and profundity. zack snyder is such an instinctually fascist filmmaker but he‘s too fucking stupid to weave his savage impulses into a coherent worldview, so everything he makes is just two hours of The Most Serious Guys In the World doing their best punisher impression while saying the dumbest shit you’ve ever heard in your life.
i had seen bad movies before this, but i had never seen a movie in theaters that was bad enough that it was able to totally overwhelm the natural aura bonus a film gets from being screened in one. was a valuable flashpoint in my cultural development and maybe fundamentally shattered any interest i had in superhero movies until into the spiderverse

this movie is so insane. i love it
throughout the first like 3/4 of the movie, i was just so confused and repulsed by wtf i was watching. yet i was mesmerized
and now that i’ve finished it, i can only say how amazing it is. i really enjoyed it. it’s so strange and bizarre but such a good story.
