I just got back from the release party for my friend Molly's debut novel, and I have been itching to rec this book for years. It was over a decade in the making and is some of the best writing I have ever read. I'm lucky to know her, and if you "vibe with mind parasites, a time-transcending queer love story, body horror, and a murder mystery" then this is absolutely the book for you. (I linked to her site!)

SUCH a wild ride, we’ve got an affair, a celeb psychic medium, an inter-dimensional cloud of ancestral grief, a failing marriage (and a pregnancy), the Russian Revolution, generational trauma, Soviet orphanages, and at least three questionable women —I feel like this is a superb book for the Moshfegh, batuman, emma cline, Mona Awad crowds

Weird, quirky, dirty, obsessed are words I'd use to describe Paradise Logic.Ā  Reality Kahn is the greatest water slide commercial actress on the Eastern Seaboard; she is on the ultimate quest of becoming the greatest girlfriend ever. After successfully obtaining her boyfriend Ariel, Reality is dazzled by an ad in her favourite magazine ā€˜Girlfriend Weekly’, to participate in a drug trial prescribing a pill calledĀ ZZZZvx UltraĀ to become the greatest girlfriend ever.Ā  Usually, before heading to a bookstore, I have a tightly curated list of books I’ve researched. I hardly ever pick up a book that isn't on my tbr. On this particular day, I walked past this gorgeous pink glossy cover; I was ultimately intrigued. It depicts a true insight to the infatuations girls typically experience in their early twenties; the chaotic highs and lows of the classic notion, ā€œwe accept the love we think we deserveā€ but on acid.Ā  This book was truly a trip to read, Sophie’s writing bends from Paradise to what I can only describe as a neon-fuzzed fever dream. It is wild and weird, I feel like the girls who get it, get it. After reading this book, I am in wonder of Sophie’s uniquely original voice within her writing. I want moreĀ  5/5 I have also created a Spotify playlist, that I think matches the vibe of the book perfectly.Ā

Here it is, folks! Volume I of what could very well be a continuous project. Thank you so much to everyone that submitted - I smiled the entire time I was putting this together. It's best listened to with headphones ā˜ŗļø Liner Notes: This collection of field recordings is a collaborative effort with users of PI.FYI, each of which recorded their own pieces. It features audio from all over the world and exhibits eclectic moments from London Underground commutes to cuckoo bird calls in Dhaka to the sounds of a century-old American diner. Online communities like PI.FYI often represent a diverse set of people, places, and experiences, but together, the submissions form a living collage that highlights the commonalities of modern life - a unifying message for such a tumultuous time. The first track features all of the sounds played at once in an attempt to create an audio snapshot of an online community but in their offline lives. The individual recordings are unedited except for minor gain and compression adjustments for consistency across the collection.
