I was surprised at how rapturing collaging was. I would be alone in the art club room an hour+ after everyone had already left, working on different pieces. My focus has not been that way for anything else other than recording music. anyone else collage?

I'm not really good at any visual art forms, but I made a pretty big collage for my friend's birthday, and it was just fun following my instincts on what to put together, seeing where I could place an inside joke, and just telling a story in a way I usually wouldn't.
Hours went by before I even realized how long I'd been working on it. I just listened to music, cut up magazines, rubbed glue into my hands, fucked around with a bunch of markers, and it was pretty chill. I'd recommend anyone who struggles with visual art to give it a try, you might surprise yourself, but you also might just have fun, which is worth it to me. It's making me consider learning how to do it digitally.

i recently started “collage club” that i host once a week. it’s been amazing for my mental health, its a great excuse to not be on my phone for a few hours and spend quality time with friends without alcohol involved too :) i like that it kind of feels like a puzzle or problem solving cutting out different things and looking through all the magazines, it’s very stimulating and holds my attention for a long time which can be hard for me sometimes

made a couple collages in 2024 and had a lotta fun. something about searching thru magazines for the right picture or word feels like a game, and then u get to create something out of it!! i got the urge to make one for the new year and vision board!! been awhile since i’ve had inspo for physical art, didnt realize collaging would be for me lol
