forget if i put this here already, but this app and are.na are my favorite digital locations rn brainchild of members of iconic design/art collective k-hole, it’s a place for making connections and shit it’s like if Pinterest was more design forward and had cooler people and a lot of pdfs follow me https://www.are.na/ben-lipkin

It's hard to waste time online happily now, but you can still do it on are.na. I can both be surprised by what I see and carve out a sense of place on it. Kind of like adult, quieter Tumblr. I use it for general aggregation (clothing, images, posters, reading material) and for moodboarding creative projects.

Started using Arena for getting inspiration on design work and visual art and have been loving it. I removed all social media (instagram, twitter, snapchat), but still found myself doomscrolling on reddit or across the web that was sucking my energy. Arena makes me scroll and find things but feels more exciting and positive. It’s similar to pinterest but really like following people and diving into different connections. I’m sure a lot of you on here would love it!

Arthur Russell was an American cellist, musician, music producer, and former musical director of the New York avant-garde venue The Kitchen. Russell died of aids in 1992 relatively unknown. About 10 years after his death, friends of his compiled his music into compilation albums, where they have since been heard and garnered a wider appreciation. I love his songs for their softness. Some of his work is very reminiscent of Nick Drake. I’ve linked my favorite song of his, “Not Checking Up” above.
