I find good value grower champs from Bouzy and Montagne de Reims. Custom dictates that you scoop a bottle for yourself to enjoy, too. Chin chin!

Def not an expert here but I do receive emails from my local wine shop that I’m obsessed with. Based on the knowledge I’ve absorbed, you could try one from Chavost or Etienne Calsac (both are producers and their champagnes are allegedly good)

This Jean-Pierre Robinot guy really knows what’s up. Personal fave is the Nocturne (Pineau d’Aunis, red) but I’ve never had a bad one by him and I think generally people really go for his whites more than his reds. This L’opera des vins thing is delightful. I feel pretty confident saying You Cannot Go Wrong with this guy’s choices on what to do with grapes.

I mean, the romanticism of finding a wine made in New York by a French woman (pascaline) in champagne, I couldn’t resist. for all the warning by the somm about how this was ā€really natural,ā€ I thought it was refined, bright, and intriguing in the way that most wines made by interesting people are. I think I remember it tasting like raspberries, pink lady apples, lemon, and basil. Tart, a bit yeasty and wild, floral and aromatic, yet still deeply serious and delicious.
