Really good somewhat-scripted documentary on weightlifters. Interesting look at lovable loser Mike Katz, Lou Ferrigno and his dad and Arnold Schwartzenegger. You can see how much of a sociopath Arnold is while being goofy and the most charismatic person alive. The pure mass of everyone in the movie is incredible.

1986 film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. Nobody saw this film. I and 3 of my friends and 2 of my ex girlfriends have seen it. It’s a shakespeare level masterpiece. Action set pieces, 10/10, Arnolds WITTY AS SHIT one liners have never been more out of place, and the cinematography can only be compared to the love child of Tarkosvky and Roger Deakins high on crystal meth. It’s the sickest.

Kurt Thomas is the master of Gymkata (a mixture of martial arts and competition gymnastics and its directed by the guy who made Enter the Dragon. I got a million bad/good ones that I love, this one was just top of mind today.

I met Erin (@RIOTGRRRL) and Jake (@SLOWDAZZLE) last year after I started using PI.FYI—we organized a meetup before a Jonathan Richman show and immediately clicked over our shared taste in music and similar sensibilities. We started hanging out a lot and had some great times together. I’ve also gotten to know many of their friends, who are all really cool. Erin and Jake started dating a couple of months after the three of us became friends, but our group chat still pops off. Their friendship has meant a lot to me, especially since moving to NYC in 2023, and I really appreciate having them in my life.
