Seriously. Here I am back on my Brecht biz--but what other band is dropping bombs from incredible lesser-know Brecht-Weill operatic collab "The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny" in the middle of their debut?? Get it Jim. I loved the Doors as a kid, forgot about them and got into Foxygen, and am now back in Doors town. "Light my fire" yeah yeah yeah... The Crystal Ship--End of the Night--unhinged Brecht banger Alabama Song??? I'm into a lot of things, but this I'm *into* 😮‍💨

This band is Lydia Lunch style groundbreaking. Post Punk brought to the next level. Some of the best lyrics I’ve ever heard. It feels like they planted a beautiful bomb inside me. I want to make more art. I want to write more songs. What if Wire wasn’t an older band everyone references? This is giving me fucking feminist art fire fire fire. I LOVE.

In high school a girl I liked recommended their music, and I pretended to like them in hopes she might take an interest in me, but I'm sure she saw right through it. I confessed I didn't actually like the band and we never spoke much after that. Flash forward I am in college and for some reason, the band found me again, and I have been unable to put them down for about 3 months now. It's gotten to the point where I cannot get into my car without immediately queuing an album of theirs, and my friends are beginning to give me shit for it (which is totally fair). My favorite tracks atm (in no particula order) go as follows: - menswear - settle down - give yourself a try - she's American - happiness I know the band gets a bad rep because the lead bloke is a piece of shit, but the rhythms and melodies are too much to ignore for me so I find myself humming and tapping my feet incessantly throughout the day to all of their songs. Now I'm not the first man, nor will I be the last, to discover this band and think it's the greatest thing since sliced bread (well, self-titled certainly is), but while I am having my time with them, i will enjoy them to the fullest. I'd like to Write more about this band, as I feel like I have a lot to say about them, just not at this very moment. It is 4:20 in the A.M., I have my stupid busboy job in about 8 hours and it's going to be dreadful as I'll have to wake up and be a person. Oh well.

My friend and I happened upon this. Meaning, strive to live your life in a way that makes you feel hot. Dress to feel hot. Talk to feel hot. Do whatever you do, but in a way that makes you feel like you're worthy of the love and adoration and crushes and desire you deserve. This does not mean "sexy" necessarily--hotness is always shifting and has many forms. But reach deep inside and you'll find that your own personal method and mode of hotness can always, and most of the time is, an excellent guide.

Kind of a genre of medieval paintings, but confirms to me how horny people have always been and how we've always had to sublimate our desires into the dominant culture. It's so weirdly explicit and bizarre, and has so many layers in how it would have been used: a painting to look at, a page in a prayer book to speak as a script, a physical object to touch and venerate and meditate with.... like imagine people fingering this "wound" and being like, yes this is honestly totally about jesus. Crazy.
