From the '30s and 40s for me, but really from any time. Don't get me wrong--I love dark and brooding and (self) serious biz all the time. But, what's edgier in this world than something that lets loose unbound desire, recognizes the influence of erotic impulses on our daily lives, gets SoOo unselfconsciously emo, and lets (in the case of my aforementioned classics) the greatest faces in all of cinema fill valuable time by smoldering at each other??? I'm lookin at u Kay Francis and William Powell. Just watch *One Way Passage* and you'll get it. Ugh. Love rommmm commmmmzzzzz

Beautiful old movie [1934] that seems to be the blueprint for a lot of commonly used tropes throughout later media. (Enemies to lovers, pretending to be a couple, class / status division, forced proximity, etc.) It’s very fun, very cute, and I very much recommend to anyone in need of a movie to watch

The best rom coms are about class. This one is about that and also Liza Minelli is there, what a treat! This movie is endlessly quotable and the leads have sensational chemistry. Watch for the love story, stay for the early 80's fashion.

It occurs to me... that the posts I most connect with are ones where people unfurl their weirdo habits, values, inner lives (i love the "crush" genre of pi posts), ways of living, likes, dislikes, life philosophical points of view etc. I do treasure proper recs with an object, i.e. a new record or book or 8 hour youtube video, but I find myself really moved when someone shares how they live a good life. appreciating!!

I've been on a real journey lately. You see the person across the room and you know them... and you know they know you... but you know that they aren't going to come over and say hi... do it. Take the plunge. However the approach needs to happen, make contact. Don't wait until you see them at the next networking event and say "hey were you at the taco place the other day?" It's surprisingly empowering and frankly kind of an impressive social maneuver. The reward is giddy and powerful and immediate. It makes me feel like I've broken out of the matrix.
