sometimes I dissociate in public and am reminded of the rollercoaster parks I built as a 10-year old tycoon on a dell desktop computer. This often happens when I’m in crowds or see overflowing garbage cans, or when I view a large expanse of land from up above, like out the window of a plane about to land. We’re all little ants. 🐜

Seeking shelter in my catholic elementary school that has a cathedral inside the cathedral. Riding a Disneyland dark ride through every home I lived in as a kid. Driving down a highway that I understand to be inside of the Infinite Jest cover. Seeing a Tarantino movie about my friend in a theater that’s part-Pantheon part-hospital from Silent Hill 2. Usually nothing really happens, I’m just sitting or walking around watching everyone else exist. They almost always feel melancholic/stilted, but I really enjoy it! I try and draw them in my dreams note if I can remember once I wake up

But I play D&D with a variety of people. As a DM running the game I've learned over the years that you're basically the narrator to the 5 senses for each player's character. So I've upped my descriptor game to give context. That's when I learned that some players have no internal visuals or dialogue... So I have to show them or they can't even guess what a goblin may look like. Many see words. I see them glance down and look as tho they're reading as I describe the world around them. Then I'm not sure if they sorta see it or not. Many also can visualize pretty well, but younger people seem to have no real concept of dimensions. A 30' by 30' room means nothing to them as a reference. Other peoples brains I think are designed to confuse me. lol But I've been alive 4 decades and my own brain baffles me enough sometimes

go during moose birthing season (May) because they are everywhere and you can work on your ninja skills of always being aware of your surroundings. The sun does crazy things here. everyone has a good story of how they’ve ended up here (or why they’ve stayed here for generations). good camping. Good hikes. Lots of birds. Same maddening anonymity as New York City but with huge mountains.
