But I play D&D with a variety of people. As a DM running the game I've learned over the years that you're basically the narrator to the 5 senses for each player's character. So I've upped my descriptor game to give context. That's when I learned that some players have no internal visuals or dialogue... So I have to show them or they can't even guess what a goblin may look like. Many see words. I see them glance down and look as tho they're reading as I describe the world around them. Then I'm not sure if they sorta see it or not. Many also can visualize pretty well, but younger people seem to have no real concept of dimensions. A 30' by 30' room means nothing to them as a reference. Other peoples brains I think are designed to confuse me. lol But I've been alive 4 decades and my own brain baffles me enough sometimes

That’s so amazing i never thought of that. I used to play dnd with my uncle and my brother when we were kids, but we didnt have a board or anything, we just had the dices and my uncle drew the maps and settings very poorly on paper with a pen, but i remember imagining the whole thing very vividly and with loads of details. But i never thought of how was my brother imagining everything or if he even was imagining something, thats insane.

it is always so interesting to see how much of a difference there is in between people's experiences with fantasy reading and DND.

Which is odd for me because my recall memory is very very visual. I seem to narrate what I'm saying, which is also how I read stories, in my own voice either right before or while I'm saying/typing something (like this for instance). The way I hear it is in the same slightly tonal pattern in which I talk, seems very real and normal. I also tend to think about thinking a lot and getting in the weeds in the WHYs of everything. Whether it's my anxiety or other diagnoses, my brain really wants to focus on something I don't understand until I figure it out and there are just way too many things in the world in which that does not mesh with the reality of our dumb little human brains. I think a lot about how we are both electric sacks of meat and gas and rock and perhaps some other 4th thing that somehow can fathom at least the existence of the universe.

sometimes I dissociate in public and am reminded of the rollercoaster parks I built as a 10-year old tycoon on a dell desktop computer. This often happens when I’m in crowds or see overflowing garbage cans, or when I view a large expanse of land from up above, like out the window of a plane about to land. We’re all little ants. 🐜

i was thinking about this bc my mind fills in what i think a profile picture looks like when i only see it in the mini size and then it usually looks completely different when i actually see it in full size i don't think i explained that very well but i just think that the mind is so wonderful and i don't really understand how it works but i appreciate it nonetheless (or perhaps moreso because of the sense of mystery)

I'm not a conventionally handsome or even good looking guy. lol I can admit it I'm comfortable being me. Mostly cuz years ago a well dressed older pretty lady with a thick Tennesse accent said "Boy, the girls that know are gonna eat you up." That Appalachian witch cursed me with the best of luck that day.

Wizards of the Coast customer service has pissed me off. So may be my last game of D&D. During 3rd and 4th editions I played every other game. 5th stole enough from 13th Age to be good imo. But Hasbro is shitting on customers and I don't take shit well.
