I'm specifically thinking about times when I can't muster the energy to assemble a full meal, and I say to myself "something is better than nothing" and make myself a pbj on toasted sourdough and vow to eat a green vegetable and hearty protein next time. A small way to be kind to myself when the negative self talk gets a little too loud.

If you’re hungry but questioning how ā€œhealthyā€ a food or meal is—but the alternative is that you don’t eat at all—that food or meal is healthy by default. Eat! (former nutritionist who often has to say this to myself too, as chronic illness increases the risk of disordered eating and just being hella stressed doesn’t help either)

have been there 100% and have learned its much easier and more humane to yourself to trust your hunger cues rather than ignore them. literally doesn't have to be a huge production either, it can be a few spoonfuls of peanut butter or a piece of cheese or fruit. also it helps to have your choice of little beverage through the day which will keep you hydrated and increase satiety

I am trying to get 20-30 plant foods in per week but I be busy as fuck and the thought gets overwhelming so here’s what I’ve come up with… I take 10 minutes to chop up three days worth of some raw veggies that I like to eat on the side of whatever protein. what is ā€œwhatever proteinā€? Cheese squares, cold cuts, cottage cheese, lentils/beans/any legume, meat from a rotisserie chicken or a pot roast that I prepped (also so hands off and easy). to further boost my plant intake, I have a mix of a bunch of random nuts and seeds that I can rely on. for something sweet, I plop a few scoops of Greek yogurt into a container and throw frozen berries and mango on top. EASY. Nourished. I am allotted Diet Coke as well, I’m not a sadist!!!???!!?!?

It occurs to me... that the posts I most connect with are ones where people unfurl their weirdo habits, values, inner lives (i love the "crush" genre of pi posts), ways of living, likes, dislikes, life philosophical points of view etc. I do treasure proper recs with an object, i.e. a new record or book or 8 hour youtube video, but I find myself really moved when someone shares how they live a good life. appreciating!!

I've been on a real journey lately. You see the person across the room and you know them... and you know they know you... but you know that they aren't going to come over and say hi... do it. Take the plunge. However the approach needs to happen, make contact. Don't wait until you see them at the next networking event and say "hey were you at the taco place the other day?" It's surprisingly empowering and frankly kind of an impressive social maneuver. The reward is giddy and powerful and immediate. It makes me feel like I've broken out of the matrix.
