I was lucky enough to see it in theaters twice last year. It has this reputation for being extremely depressing, and yes the first half is horrific. However the second half and ultimate conclusion of the movie is so incredibly inspiring ! That despite all of the fear or pain that comes from interacting with others, it’s still worth it, and it’s what being human is all about. It pushed me to become marginally less afraid of talking to people, of pursuing genuine connection and I love it dearly for that.

I always want to recommend this at risk of someone actually watching and going ā€œthat Taylor, she’s a weirdoā€ except most of the REALLY weird stuff you have to get through 90% of the series to see so maybe they’re the weirdo! Watched it for the first time roughly a year ago, saw ā€œEnd of Evangelionā€ in a sold out theatre tonight and my love for this show immediately came rushing back.

to be honest this hits 10x harder when you've seen the show, even though you'll understand it about the same amount. i watched this at 16 and was in a catatonic state for a month afterwards, a part of me will never really recover. masterpiece

My god everything is experienced better this way. Stop looking at guides, walkthroughs, endings explained (my least favorite), even the blurbs on the back. Such a rare opportunity in this time to go into something without knowing anything about it, yet so rewarding. To be pleasantly surprised or blown away, to have no idea what’s happening, to find that you really didn’t like it, an opinion formed on your own.. nothing is more valuable
