🍇
Makes a light, herbaceous, floral red wine. I sound like an asshat whenever I walk into a wine shoppe & ask for this grape specifically, but her wines are #singular and perfect for picnics and other similarly chic occasions.

I mean, the romanticism of finding a wine made in New York by a French woman (pascaline) in champagne, I couldn’t resist. for all the warning by the somm about how this was ”really natural,” I thought it was refined, bright, and intriguing in the way that most wines made by interesting people are. I think I remember it tasting like raspberries, pink lady apples, lemon, and basil. Tart, a bit yeasty and wild, floral and aromatic, yet still deeply serious and delicious. I asked for something soft, not too bracing. This blend of Chardonnay and Chenin from iconic Loire producer, Christian Venier, was gentle and inviting. For three Danish girls gossiping over tapas, it was the perfect antidote. Enjoyed at Le Dauphin (for the second weekend in a row…)

I’m sure you’ve seen it, but if it’s been awhile (it had been for me) I recommend a re-watch. My mom‘s husband had been politicking for its election as our annual x-mas watch for years and I was finally out-voted in its favor this year; I can admit I was wrong. I was near to sobbing by the end and its old-timey-ness did not detract from the incredible writing, pacing, and understanding of the human condition, rendering it - actually - time*less*.
