cheekily cocky in that shy 2010 hipster guy way. very floppy hair debonair. music that makes me wish i was in high school in 2012. it's one of my favorite albums that got taken off of spotify and apple music a few months ago and now i'm resigned to listening to it on youtube. pitchfork gave it a 3.3 with a one word review that just read "Sorry :/" and i dont get why everyone rags on it bc it's that same type of introspective party music that everyone seem to be nostalgic for. i think about you every day. reggie please bring the kids home we miss you.

It was 2010. My friends and I used to swap USBs full of .mp3 files (usually ripped from CDs we had borrowed at the library) and we were all curating these bloated itunes libraries on our parents desktop computers.
I never listened to the radio so this album managed to pass me by. The first time I heard it, it was technically autumn but in every experiential sense it was winter and I was on the bus to school. I had time to listen to it twice. To this day, it’s one of my all time favourites and all my friends make fun of me for it. (I may be embarrassing but I commit 100%!)

such a tender and fun time... could just be looped in with that era of indie rock but there was something so distinct about it (twee? sparkly? childlike? maybe that's my own perception of its influence on me at the time?) someone still loves you boris yeltsin, freelance whales, clap your hands say yeah, midlake, islands, rogue wave, throw me the statue ETC!!!! i feel like i'm puking at homecoming bc my ex bf is grinding with my best friend and i am going home to burn a CD about it!!!!!

The more i age, the more i find their brand of hipsterdom corny and self serious, which unfortunately seems to be the popular opinion these days...BUT.... BUT...
I still think this album is a classic and return to it often. I will not be silenced.

i fell up the escalator at the union square station and ended up with this bruise on my thigh that quite literally spells out HI. if it is who i hope it is then thats cool. if its not then thats also ok too because this is the coolest shit ever. i feel like that guy in glee when he found the grilled cheesus. here’s the bruise with the photo edited for clarity i promise im not unwell just turn up your brightness. let me think about the dead people i know whose birthdays could be coming up.
