I just walked past an elementary school and had flashbacks after seeing the tetherball poles. I genuinely miss playing that game. It was so simple and fun. Beginner boxing for a little child who needed to get out their frustration and practice dodging and smacking things back. I wonder if I'm as good as I used to be. Someone find me public tetherball courts, why are they always only inside schools.

my friends & i used to go to our old elementary school playground on the weekend since it was the closest swingset near us.... maybe u can sneak in too :3

beelbao I could hop the gates of course but breaking into an elementary school just seems unnecessary and I'm not sure I have people who would be down to

my school installed and removed these in a 3 month span because of how many kids complained about being excluded :(

ben10 I hate that the solution wasn't "hey let's try to see why these kids are being excluded and work on making it fair" but "let's just take away the fun thing ha"

revisiting an activity you used to do all the time

i played squash today after a year of not playing - i played competitively all through my childhood and it was so stressful i remember being so nervous before every tournament or even just a lesson - my coaches made me feel terrible about myself to the point where i was just constantly berating myself over every little mistake - not to mention i felt an overwhelming guilt bc it was so expensive and my family didn't really have the money to be spending on it - anyway i played again today and it was so nice to find out i can still do something i havent done in a while and not feel stressed about it - i am incredibly sore now though

rural basketball

The bright light at the end of your blue day is a poorly maintained, rarely used basketball court in the sticks. I am scared of pick up and am also deeply not competitive, but shooting hoops ALONE for hours on end is pure untouchable joy. The abandoned court in a small park in my hometown is perfect for this but there must be thousands of courts exactly like it. Bonus if you go on days in the 50s or light rain when absolutely no sane person is at the park. You do not need to be even remotely talented at basketball to indulge in this ritual. Requires: Playlist, speaker, ball.

THE AIRPORT

It's so lawless. You’ll see the weirdest things and no one will care. People are so unabashedly human here. Dead expressions, exhaustion, boredom. You’ll get a coffee, someone else will get a bloody mary, the time is irrelevant. Your priorities will be tested, everything costs at least three times as much as it should, it won’t matter. I love liminal spaces.
