the late 90s trip hop ish album you didnt know you needed! a truly healing experience to throw this on for a quick dance break when your boss is out of the room, shimmy your shoulders to the clunky industrial sounds before it launches into an absolute GROOVE! Singing “I JUST DONT BELONG HERE…HEY LOOK AT THE GIRL” will really make you feel like THAT girl! Also obsessed with this album cover! also for the past 5 days my brain is intermittently bursting with “HER STOMACH IS SO TIIIGGHHT.” You’ll understand once you listen <3

women in music pt III - haim

album goes insanely fucking hard. danielle has a totally unbeatable voice. the musicianship on display is unmatched. lyrics often terrible as is to be expected with haim (sorry yall it’s not their strong suit) but so earnestly sung and felt… you just have to get behind it. sound of the summer 2020 so you have to be careful… might harbor some memories lol. wish hollywood would release these women i need their 4th lp stat

Break your phone and go temporarily analog

i once broke my phone and due to unforeseen circumstances I wasn’t able to get a new one for a couple weeks so I was forced to take time without it, and to be honest, it was beautiful! its nice to say “ah my phone wasn’t on me / my phone was broken so I couldn’t respond.“ since then I’ve done some time intentionally leaving my phone at home when I leave to have a bit of solace and experience the world around me for a moment without needing headphones in or checking notifications constantly. great stuff!!

Non fiction books that are more exciting than fiction

i am a HUGE nonfiction junkie, truth is often stranger and more curious than fiction!! my favorite book ever is Say Nothing by Patrick Radden Keefe, it’s such an incredibly well-written and deeply researched story about the troubles that i’m nearly certain the new tv show cannot recreate fully. READ THIS BOOK it is a masterclass on long form journalism and research, and it reads like a novel!! 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
