i know way too much about mortal kombat lore from the games but i couldn't even figure out what was going on here. effects were jaw droppingly horrible, dialogue and plot is dumb, and it just generally sucks. but it was still a fun hour and a half, i'll give it that

it was a tough battle between this and ready player one but at the end of the day this movie is the single worst theater experience i’ve ever had. so, so, *so* stupid, but *so* convinced of its own cleverness and profundity. zack snyder is such an instinctually fascist filmmaker but he‘s too fucking stupid to weave his savage impulses into a coherent worldview, so everything he makes is just two hours of The Most Serious Guys In the World doing their best punisher impression while saying the dumbest shit you’ve ever heard in your life. i had seen bad movies before this, but i had never seen a movie in theaters that was bad enough that it was able to totally overwhelm the natural aura bonus a film gets from being screened in one. was a valuable flashpoint in my cultural development and maybe fundamentally shattered any interest i had in superhero movies until into the spiderverse

So fucking bad it was laughable like truly made me understand why people purposely watch bad movies plot is just horrible the way it was filmed and advertised was just ugly the random side characters and quests genuinely such a mess of a movie and it’s sad when I think what could’ve been with that movie but damn I never laughed so hard

this might lose me some cool points but this movie genuinely pissed me off so much. i have never been so bored by a movie to the point that i began falling asleep until this movie. i truly think this would've been fantastic as a 20ish minute long short film, but unfortunately it is just 100 minutes of you siting in silence and staring at a dimly lit corner with a noticeably looped grain filter plastered over it. the 5 minutes total in which something actually does happen are cool, but it still is the only film to receive a 0.5/5 stars on my letterboxed so far.

you can do whatever you want, but if you really want to hear my opinion on it... at best, ai-art is demoralizing to actual human beings and creates novelty slop that vaugely looks like an art piece, while not harboring any skill in using it. and theres nothing wrong with not wanting to make art fir the skill of it, though. but at worst, it's an environmental and economic disaster, a predatory business model to consumers and customers of AI, and a great way for businessmen to try and take creativity away from us to turn us into cogs in the machine. it's built off of the stolen work of artists who already struggled to make a living, now forced out by a tool that's turned on them with their own work. it can help make propaganda that is virtually unidentifiable, turn victims into deepfakes, and generally evil we have yet to see. and that's just the image side of things, but the cons of all types of ai models overlap. I've had to watch people throw away their lifelong dreams because of this garbage. it's no coincidence elonely muskrat and every ceo you can think of are obsessed with it - it's a perverse business tool. I wouldn't mind coexisting with it if it wasn't out to get me. but it is. I also feel like it's the reason nobody makes fun photobashes or random photoshops anymore. it will never fully phase out human art but I think it's starting to take over the photography world, especially commercially. I'm sick of  looking up real places and animals and sorting through fake slop im being told is real.
