- I keep misc. 2d ephemera in large paper boxes. early on it was shoeboxes so that’s childhood-college (plus the “e-files my dad has kept of my earliest paper days) and now i have a bigger photo box and will soon graduate to another. this is post-it notes left by my husband, movie ticket stubs, programs from exhibitions or shows, wristbands, business cards; receipts, etc. all loosely organized but sort of layered like the starts of a landfill or rock formation to be sifted layer by layer during times of reminiscence. - photos in the envelopes i get them at the print shop labeled with the time. these are in a large fabric box. photo strips are in a small plastic box but regrettably unlabeled (if you like photo strips, condition yourself early on to date them because you will thank yourself later on) - birthday/christmas/etc cards in a pokemon happy meal box, will need to get another - written recipes (from myself or others) in my recipe tin - i keep important legal documents and passport in a fireproof envelope my mom got me for christmas a few years ago. she had a nightmare about fire and got everyone fireproof envelopes. - boring tax shit in a plastic box in case i need it - my marriage certificate in a silver plated scroll -lately i’ve been keeping a scrap journal of notes, recipes, sketches, schematics, clippings, etc. really no rules no boundaries shut any time i need a piece of paper i add to it or glue small things i’ve accumulated in it and i think ik do this going forward. i also add any stickers i acquire to it.

1. The sentimental things boxes kept in the closet(they are both crammed full. Do I start another or transfer everything to a scrapbook? Who knows) 2. Binders that contain art and fashion sketches in rough chronological order. Also a reference photo binder. 3. File cabinet for typical file fare. Bills, taxes, owners manuals, etc. 4. Catchall box on my desk for catching all the bits of paper to be sorted into the proper place. Primarily holding pictures of food for a decoupage project. 5. A newer adoption into the over arching "system", taping or gluing tickets and whatnots into this year's journal/list book.

i can almost never bring myself to dispose of old media, clothes etc. it's kinda selfish and clutterish maybe but i cut out tags and make collages of old stuff to paste in my journal and keep a piece of them before disposing. A bit patch from a shirt that doesn't fit anymore? An empty matchbook from an electric night? Show program from a band you saw in a foreign city? I have a transit fare citation in mine. It's all game and it's a great way to preserve memory. I put mine in my journal so I don't have to write shit down.
