The “Remarkable 2”

My brain feels like it’s getting pan seared every time I try to read a PDF on my laptop. Printing things uses a lot of paper, which gets scattered all over; buying and replacing ink is annoying. The Remarkable 2 is a sexy tablet type thing, with no blue light or other apps, that you can upload pdfs and ebooks to. You can mark stuff up with the “pen” that comes with it, then transfer the documents back to your laptop, or email them. Plus, people think it’s cool. Every time Nicolette uses hers, people ask her what it is, and then they get it. People don’t ask me about mine because I don’t often leave the house.

BROTHER ADS 1300 COMPACT SCANNER

You basically take any random stack of papers and throw it in this machine and a couple minutes later out comes formatted PDF files with the text already scanned and copyable / searchable. Which means now you can conduct searches inside specific files across your entire paper bound life. You’re welcome. It takes a tiny amount of space on your desk and it’s 200 bucks. What more could you want?

ANYTHING BELONGING TO YOUR ELDERS

Keeping a direct line open to one’s ancestors is I think a very effective way of not falling off the face of our earth. This could be facilitated by a piece of family jewelry or a photo/painting of/belonging to an ancient in your line. Warning sometimes these objects can get a bit charged and you gotta maybe light a candle and open a window and be like I know, I’m listening, thank you. For me remembering that I am a small sapling from many redwoods helps me feel looked out for and like if i take a big swing and miss they will still love me.

LEAVING SOMETHING ON THE TABLE

We’re conditioned now to try grab it all and grow without limit and it’s making us feel sick. Let something of value pass you by this week. Even better if it feels wrong to do so/presses into an uncomfy spot. See if the feeling you’re craving can be achieved using tools you have. It’s extremely honourable to operate one beloved restaurant and never open any more, success doesn’t have to mean becoming shake shack (although I do like shake shack).
