People think things that help them become the solution of solving everyone's problems. Processed foods and what not, sure bad. But there's a ton of fuckers out there. People keep living despite all these little dooms talking heads shout at you. Solipsism is a bigger problem than any food stuff.

@GOMIZHOU personally, i think it’s neither bad or good. they say using seed oils when cooking can cause inflammation in the body, which can be true, and that it offers no nutrition. But we use seed oils all the time for cooking things. if we took out all the seed oils, then we don’t have many other options. at the end of the day, it’s a lot of weird people trying to profit off trendy health topics and make dieting and weight loss/management a lot more difficult than it needs to be.

@GOMIZHOU seed oils r not inherently unhealthy. seed oils do not have enough evidence they cause inflammation in the body- what is unhealthy is the way fast food/restaurants will use seed oils at very high heats and reuse them; this is what causes harmful compounds to leech out into food. Same thing with cold pressed oils being using in high heat situations- they haven’t gone through the right processes to be heat safe without damaging the healthy compounds in the oil leading to those harmful compounds leeching out. processed oils are needed for high heat situations- they’ve gone thru a series of refinement to be shelf stable, and high heat safe. you also are not heating seed oils at home to the same degree as fast food/resturants may be- seed oils are not the enemy!!!!!! Omega-6 is not inflammatory, your body needs to get omega-6 from food bc we do not produce it naturally.

@GOMIZHOU please don’t listen to these people they’re cynically reacting to social media holistic grifters, which doesn’t inherently mean it’s all a misleading scam or the facts are false. I promise (promise!) you if you stay away from heavily refined and processed seed oils you will feel and look better, have more energy etc. human bodies aren’t meant to consume these and its only been around for a few generations (pushed to market by giant and evil exploitative companies). Don’t need to buy anyone’s products they’re shilling online. its def snake oil (lol) I wont get in a fact battle in the replies but the anti seed oil wave is actually a really good thing despite unlikable and untrustworthy influencers pushing their own interests.

@GOMIZHOU it’s not just social media influencers- this is becoming a common trope/the next fad within the wellness/health industry when there’s yet to be much conclusive evidence or proof of this and young people are falling into shit like looksmaxxing. Eating whole foods, having a diverse diet, limiting the amount of oil you use is all the goal in general. If yr suddenly being mindful of oils, not using them as much and feel better/more energize afterwards- maybe it’s because your being mindful of your food intake/making genuine changes on veggie intake when you previously weren’t. moderation is Key!

@GOMIZHOU Seed oils are fine for you and we should all be mad about ultraprocessed foods instead.

@GOMIZHOU 100% what @CILANTRO said, it’s a “correlation vs causation“ thing. many ultraprocessed foods use seed oil so of course if you cut out seed oils you’d be cutting out those or if you’re cutting down the amount of any oil that you’re eating, you would likely feel a little better physically. olive oil is considered best but there’s no consistent empirical evidence that seed oils themselves are that dangerous for people (and in some cases they can be considered more balanced than other options, such as replacing frying something in butter or cooking coconut oil, with soy or canola oil, for example)

I think some lifestyles choices are very unnecessarily politicized right now because bad actors have captured the entirety of the discourse surrounding them for their own rhetorical purposes and twisted them to fit their biases. I’ve actually been attacked recently and accused of being an alt-right nutjob by someone who knows the way I eat which saddens me! It’s also difficult to talk about your own dietary choices sometimes without making people feel personally attacked so when I say this keep in mind it’s just what works for me ❤️ I avoid seed oils as much as possible and choose to use butter, olive oil, coconut oil, or avocado oil instead (if you would like to hear a coherent, logical, data-driven argument for this check out this video). I don’t eat a lot of chicken and rarely if ever eat pork; if I eat them it’s usually pasture-raised chicken and forage-fed heritage pork from the farmers market because the meat is higher quality due to their diet and better animal welfare standards. Same with eggs; I would never buy eggs at the store when I can get the best quality eggs I can buy for like $6 a dozen from my favorite friendly farmers. I eat fresh produce in season but I honestly love organic frozen vegetables because they’re cheaper and easier to manage. I eat a lot of grass-fed beef and grass-fed New Zealand butter. I go through wedges of aged parmesan absurdly quickly. I love organic pasta imported from Italy and try to buy organic for almost everything. Lots of black espresso. fresh bread from my neighborhood bakery and dessert about once a week. I don’t like to carelessly or mindlessly eat sugar; if I’m going to do it I want it to be a real treat! Love carbs. If I buy processed food I prefer that it has a short ingredient list and you could say I live in an ‘ingredients household.’ I don’t eat until I’m hungry (usually somewhere from noon to 2:00 pm) at which point I’ll eat a snack with protein and fat. I eat one big meal at the end of the day. I’ve tried a lot of different dietary lifestyles. I was a vegetarian for about a decade and a vegan for a good portion of that time. I ate keto and fasted regularly. I didn’t eat any sugar for a couple of years. I’ve incorporated elements from all of these and found a way of eating that I enjoy! I feel good in my body and I’m never stressed about what I’m going to eat. Food is a joyful thing for me and my dream is for better nutritional education and the ability to buy healthy foods (whatever that looks like to them) to be accessible to everyone 🙏
