ok this is a double rec (maybe triple) !!! number one - the movie “how to have sex” a MUBI movie about teenage chavs (am i using that word right) who go to greece for their summer break and what should be the best time of their life, and then :( shit happens. it is a must see beautifully shot. super tender and real BUT THE SOUNDTRACK?? why was i like i actually love these songs … why am i a 32 year old obsessed w all of these songs and have had them saved since forever - would i be considered cool in europe?? but mostly - i rec having more of a “UK centric” ear - if you don’t know who becky hill is i don’t want to talk to you. one time someone tweeted they hated this pinkpantheress song with this chav (??) rapper because the rap part killed the song. and this other person tweeted back “actually try listening to this with british ears and you’ll get it. i got it the first try” (nice to meet you - pinkpantheress is the song) “i got it the first try” i can’t stop thinking about that

reject modernity, embrace tradition

i’m stupidly sensitive and nostalgic. blame astrology or blame aesthetics, either way i‘m open to recs from all the times hip hop/rap/r&b artists genre bended and included super indie samples/features. think little bit - drake & lykke li, she knows - j cole & the cults, same ol mistakes - rhianna (tame impala). i want to see wired headphones, i want to touch a cassette tape, i want to indulge in pen caressing paper 🙂‍↕️ go off and perform a small act of modern rebellion. (willing to make the spotify playlist public if you want 👉👈)

partie traumatic by black kids

cheekily cocky in that shy 2010 hipster guy way. very floppy hair debonair. music that makes me wish i was in high school in 2012. it's one of my favorite albums that got taken off of spotify and apple music a few months ago and now i'm resigned to listening to it on youtube. pitchfork gave it a 3.3 with a one word review that just read "Sorry :/" and i dont get why everyone rags on it bc it's that same type of introspective party music that everyone seem to be nostalgic for. i think about you every day. reggie please bring the kids home we miss you.
